Southend Bowls & Social Club Ltd - Indoor League Match Rules

Indoor League Matches - Rules

All matches are played up to stated number of Ends or up to the specified time limit which must not be exceeded.
All games to be played to a rolled jack, except where it has been miscast twice, when it has to be placed at the 2-metre 'T' mark.
No Trial Ends are to be played.
No threes up in a fours match, or twos up in triples, to be played, except in the Ladies Poulten League matches.
If the rink is free, and all members of both teams are ready to play, then play may commence before the stated start time.  In League matches consisting of 16 Ends, the last End mat must be placed and the jack cast no later than 5 minutes before the scheduled finish time.
League matches of 16 Ends – only the maximum of 16 Ends or 2 hours’ play from scheduled start time permitted.
In all League matches, if the jack is displaced sideways outside the rink, it is to be re-spotted on the appropriate marker at the side of the rink where the jack went out of bounds.  Subsequent players aim towards the re-spotted jack.
Members can only play for one team in any one League in a season, unless their team disbands.  Only then can a member play for another team.
Team Contacts must ensure that their team complement of players is sufficient to meet the requirements of the team’s League commitments.
The ‘Available Floaters’ list will be displayed on the indoor rink noticeboard.
A Floater cannot act as Skip in a match.
Team Contacts must submit a list of their team members to the League Secretary prior to the start of the season, and all players in the team should be allocated approximately the same number of games.
In the event of only 3 players from a team being present in a 4’s League match, the Lead and No. 2 will play with 3 woods each, and the Skip will play with 2 woods.  At the conclusion of the match, 25% of the score will be deducted from their final total.  This is to be recorded on the scorecard, and the name of the missing player is to be printed on the reverse of the card or on the envelope.
Any team playing with a player short or more than two occasions in any one season will be deducted 1 point for third and fourth occasion, and deducted 2 points for each subsequent occasion.
In the event that a team cannot field a side, then the match will be deemed void.  Their opponents will be awarded 2 points and 8 shots for a 16-End match, 2 points and 9 shots for an 18-End match, and 2 points and 11 shots for a 21-End match.  An exception to this rule can be made if a Contact Person knows in advance of the match that he cannot field a team and requests the League Secretary to re-schedule the match with the agreement of the Contact Person of the opposition team.
Teams failing to appear after a period of 20 minutes after the designated start time shall forfeit the match.  Their opponents will be awarded points and shots as outlined in Rule 17 above.  Should neither team appear, the match is declared void and no points are awarded.  If a player turns up more than 20 minutes late to play in a match, he will not be allowed to play and he will be liable to pay the ‘No Show’ rink fee for that match.  Matches must still finish at their designated times.
No League matches will be postponed or re-arranged except by prior arrangement with the League Secretary.
In all League matches, no player may visit the Head prior to the delivery of their woods.
In all League matches, both Skips must leave the Head together and are not permitted to re-visit the Head prior to the delivery of their last woods.
League tables will be made up in the names of the Contact Person for each team by the League Secretary from the scorecards on a regular basis.  Such scorecards must be completed clearly and legibly and signed off by the Skips.

SOUTHEND–ON–SEA INDOOR BOWLS CLUB
OUTSTANDING GREEN FEE COLLECTION PROCEDURE
PLAYER MISSING

The skip of the team with the missing player(s) will record the player(s) names on the back of the scorecard or on the envelope.
The scorecard with all the rink fees collected is to be placed in the envelope provided and deposited in the safe in the men’s changing room.
When the envelope contents are checked, any money missing is to be noted by the Treasurer on the envelope.  The scorecard and the envelope are to be passed to the League Secretary.
The League Secretary will check the scorecard against the information on the envelope, and, if correct, he will record the deficit and will complete a ‘no show’ form and send it to the missing player(s) via the internal mail at the Club.
The player(s) should indicate on the ‘no show’ payment form if he/she requires a receipt and place the form and the outstanding rink fee in the envelope provided and place it in the safe in the men’s changing room, or write on the form the reason as to why he/she did not turn up for the match.
If the player has a valid reason for not showing up to play and that he/she had informed his Contact Person that he/she was not available, then a ‘no show’ form will be sent to the Contact Person.
When the contents of the envelope have been checked, it is to be returned to the League Secretary with verification that the fee has been paid. The League Secretary will then dispose of his copy of the ‘no show’ form.
If after 4 weeks the outstanding fee has not been paid, the League Secretary or the Club Secretary will contact the player to ascertain why.
If after a further 2 weeks and the fee has still not been paid, then the Committee will be notified for them to make a decision regarding any necessary action.

TEAM MISSING
The opposing skip to the missing team will complete his side of the scorecard.
The scorecard is to be placed in the envelope provided with no money unless a ‘Roll-Up’ has been played.
The envelope is to be placed in the safe in the men’s changing room.
After the contents of the envelope are checked, the scorecard is to be passed on to the League Secretary.
The League Secretary will contact the Contact Person of the missing team to ascertain why the team did not appear.  If possible, with the agreement of both Contact Persons, the League Secretary will try to re-arrange the match to take place at a later date.
In the event that the match cannot be re-arranged, the League Secretary will notify the Committee that he will award the team that turned up 2 points and 8 shots for a 16-End match, 2 points and 9 shots for an 18-End match, and 2 points and 11 shots for a 21-End match.
If the decision of the Committee is to claim the outstanding rink fees, then the League Secretary will contact the missing team’s Contact Person and request the rink fees for the team.  If in the event that no ‘Roll-Up’ was  played by the players who did turn up to play, then the missing team players are liable for the rink fees for both teams.
